Isolation & Containment

Alternative Design has designed and built a variety of animal isolating and containment systems. Many have been custom designed for research of a particular species including rabbits, swine, poultry and various types of birds.

Alternative Design has designed and built a variety of animal isolating and containment systems. Many have been custom designed for research of a particular species including rabbits, swine, poultry and various types of birds. 

Some features include: 

  • HEPA filtered enclosure rack with the ability to run in either positive and negative mode
  • Each cage to be individually ventilated
  • Polypropylene flooring in ea. cage
  • Custom J feeder designed to hold ferret food and a 32 oz. water bottle. Both mounted inside cage. Feeder is inside the rack enclosure and outside of the cage
  • Squeeze bar
  • Rack sides and the front of the individual cages are designed to provide maximum visibility.
  • Cage is accessible from both the front and top.
  • One handle on the front of each cage.

 

TRANSPORT UNITS

The Animal Transport Cart  is designed to provide a safe environment for the temporary housing or transport of large animals such as sheep, swine and canine.

The Animal Transport Cart (with Scale) is designed to provide a safe environment for the temporary housing or transport of large animals such as sheep, swine and canine. This unit also includes a removable scale with rubber mat that can be used to weigh the animals.

The Open Top Animal Transport Unit is designed to provide a safe environment for the temporary housing or transport of large animals such canine, swine, sheep and cattle. This open top unit is built to hold animals up to 500 pounds.

The Animal Holding Transport Unit is designed to provide a safe environment for the temporary housing or transport of large animals such canine, swine, sheep and cattle. This unit is built to hold animals up to 500 pounds.

HOUSING

Alternative Design worked with a leading animal research facility on the East Coast to test and develop its non-human primate units. Our units are designed specifically to meet European Open Housing Guidelines.

Peggy Nahorski

Peggy has been in the lab animal industry for more than 30 years. Peggy earned a Bachelor of Science from Maryville University as well as an Associate of Applied Science in Animal Health from Jefferson College. She spent 13 years working in the vivarium at Monsanto. Starting as a quarantine technician and working her way up to Manager for Toxicology Service Group. She spent two years as a Regional Sales Manager  Purina Mills, Inc. Peggy joined the Alternative Design sales team in 1999. Peggy is a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan and attends as many games as she can to support the ‘Birds’. She loves to work in the garden growing plants for wildlife and the dinner table..
